West Adelaide SANFL player Sam May, 24, sustained life-changing injuries in an incident at the Pier Hotel in Port Lincoln on Sunday morning. May fell from the roof of the pub hours after playing in a football match. His club discovered his absence when he failed to board the flight home to Adelaide.
May was initially treated at the Port Lincoln Hospital before being transferred to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. A family statement expressed gratitude for the medical care he has received and requested privacy during this difficult time.
The incident occurred after West Adelaide’s game against Norwood at Centenary Oval for the Teakle Cup clash, which Norwood won by 13 points. The cause of the fall is under investigation, and no other person is believed to be involved.
