Adult Swim Games Continues to Delist Games on Steam, Developers Face Uncertain Future

Adult Swim Games, now owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, has continued its trend of delisting games from Steam. This time, the platform will see the removal of Zenzizenzic, Traverser, Super House of Dead Ninjas, and Mega Coin Squad on July 15th. This news follows a statement posted on each game’s page, announcing that Adult Swim Games would no longer be the publisher, and the developers are unable to manage the pages.

The situation has left developers in a difficult position. Megadev (now Bitmap Bureau), the studio behind Super House of Dead Ninjas, has expressed their interest in buying back the IP rights for the game on X (formerly Twitter), but haven’t received a response from Warner Bros. The original developers of Zenzizenzic, Mega Coin Squad, and Traverser are no longer in operation.

This wave of delistings started in March, prompting concerns from affected developers. Polygon interviewed developers who shared different experiences with Warner Bros. Discovery. Michael Molinari, the developer of Soundodger+, stated that a representative refused to transfer ownership back to him. Meanwhile, Owen Deery, the developer of Small Radios, Big Televisions, made his game available for free download after learning of its delisting. In May, Warner Bros. Discovery seemingly reversed their decision, returning ownership of Soundodger+ and Small Radios to their developers.

The future of Adult Swim Games remains uncertain. Since their last game, Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time, was released in 2020, the division has become largely inactive. While their website is still online, it has not been updated since then. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Discovery continues its presence in the video game market, focusing on established IP and live service games, with titles like MultiVersus, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and Hogwarts Legacy.
