Aer Lingus Volunteers Transform Grounds of St. Finian’s National School

Over 120 Aer Lingus employees dedicated their time to transforming the grounds of St. Finian’s National School in Finglas, Dublin, as part of the airline’s annual Make a Difference Day initiative. This large-scale volunteer event brings together employees from all departments, including cabin crew, engineers, pilots, and more, to make a positive impact on local communities.

The volunteers tackled a comprehensive wish list of projects, including creating usable outdoor spaces with seating for classroom activities and providing shade and cover from the unpredictable Irish weather. They also constructed fencing, seating, and planters. A highlight of the project is an inspiring art mural that was installed in the outdoor area.

Maria O’Connell, Principal at St. Finian’s National School, expressed her gratitude for Aer Lingus’s support, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on the pupils. Donal Moriarty, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Aer Lingus, highlighted the significance of the Make a Difference Day initiative and the pride that Aer Lingus employees take in making a difference in their local communities.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Aer Lingus’s Make a Difference Day, a testament to the airline’s commitment to community engagement. Over the years, Aer Lingus volunteers have made substantial contributions to local schools, transforming outdoor areas, enhancing learning spaces, and inspiring young students. The initiative has become a highly anticipated event within the Aer Lingus workforce, fostering a culture of giving back and making a lasting difference in the lives of those in need.
