Ahmedabad Bullet Train Station Design Inspires with Cultural Grandeur, Sabarmati Depot Boasts State-of-the-Art Facilities

Ahmedabad and Sabarmati’s Bullet Train stations are architectural marvels, seamlessly blending modern ingenuity with the rich cultural legacy of the region. The Ahmedabad station captivates with its unique roof, a canvas for hundreds of vibrant kites, and a facade that draws inspiration from the intricate latticework of the iconic Syed Siddique’s Jaali. Situated above platforms 10, 11, and 12 of the existing western railway station, the station spans an impressive 38,000 sq. m.

As the terminal station of the MAHSR Corridor, Sabarmati Bullet Train Station draws inspiration from the iconic charkha of Mahatma Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram. With an expansive area of 45,094 sq. m, the station stands as a testament to the city’s deep-rooted heritage. The bridge connecting Sabarmati and Ahmedabad stations majestically spans the Sabarmati River, featuring a length of 480 meters and a width of 350 meters. Its construction involves an array of spans and circular piers, showcasing the engineering prowess behind this ambitious project.

The Sabarmati Rolling Stock Depot, strategically located between the Sabarmati and Ahmedabad stations, serves as the largest of the three depots. Spanning a vast 83 hectares, the depot will house state-of-the-art equipment for efficient maintenance of trainsets, including inspection bays, a washing plant, workshops, sheds, and stabling lines. Its workshops will boast some of the most extensive industrial sheds, underscoring the depot’s crucial role in ensuring smooth operations. With construction progressing at a steady pace, these facilities are poised to transform the railway landscape of India, providing an unparalleled travel experience.
