The drama began early on as Lilian Bardet narrowly defeated Cho Seungmin 2-1 (11-9, 10-11, 11-10) in a close-fought battle. However, the momentum shifted firmly in the Pipers’ favor as Bernadette Szocs showcased her prowess, dismantling Suthasini Sawettabut with a clean 3-0 sweep (11-10, 11-3, 11-6).
The mixed doubles match proved to be a decisive factor. The Pipers’ dynamic duo of Manush Shah and Szocs overpowered Cho and Nithyashree Mani 2-1 (11-9, 11-5, 8-11), further solidifying their lead. Ultimately, the Pipers sealed their victory with a decisive 3-0 win (11-10, 11-9, 11-10) from Reeth Rishya against Moumita Dutta in the final singles match. The Patriots, despite receiving fervent support from the Chennai Lions who had been eliminated earlier, were unable to mount a significant challenge against the Pipers’ relentless attack.
The UTT semifinals will now see PBG Bengaluru Smashers square off against Athlead Goa Challengers on Thursday, with the Pipers facing Dabang Delhi TTC on Friday. The stage is set for an exciting conclusion to the UTT season as the top teams vie for the championship title.
