Tencent and China’s automotive industry are joining forces to leverage cutting-edge technologies such as AI, cloud computing, and online mapping services to transform the industry. These advancements will pave the way for supply chain upgrades and enhance smart cockpit experiences. Tencent Intelligent Mobility, a division of the company’s cloud business, has observed remarkable progress in AI models within smart cockpits. However, the potential applications of these models extend beyond in-vehicle functionality to encompass the broader automotive landscape. According to Zhong Xuedan, vice-president of Tencent Intelligent Mobility, LLMs have the versatility to impact various areas, including research and development, production, marketing, and customer services. Statistics from IHS Markit reveal that more than 48% of new vehicles sold in mainland China since 2021 have adopted smart cockpit configurations. By 2025, this figure is anticipated to escalate to 75%, underscoring the rapidly growing adoption of these technologies in the Chinese automotive market.
