Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing various industries, including the food sector. Recently, Kaffa Roastery in Finland unveiled the world’s first AI-generated coffee blend, AI-conic Coffee.
Coffee blends typically consist of at least two different coffee beans from different regions or farms. The combination creates unique flavor profiles. This is the first successful application of AI to create a new coffee blend.
Antti Merilehto of Elev Consulting, a Finnish AI consulting and training company, collaborated with Kaffa Roastery to create the AI-generated blend. Data on existing coffees was fed to AI, which determined the optimal blend. Coffee experts at Kaffa then fine-tuned the result, leading to a successful first test roasting and blind tasting.
Interestingly, even the product name, AI-conic Coffee, was suggested by the AI system, ChatGPT 3.5. The product packaging and visuals were also designed with the help of AI.
The AI-conic Coffee blend utilizes coffee beans from Brazil, Guatemala, and Honduras, delivering a well-balanced sweetness and ripe fruit flavor with a medium roast level.
This innovation raises the question of whether consumers would embrace an AI-generated coffee blend. Share your thoughts in the comments section.
