AiLO Expands Commitment to Sustainability with Significant Nikola Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Truck Order
AiLO, a leading provider of port drayage services, has placed a 100-truck order for Nikola hydrogen fuel cell electric (FCEV) trucks. This order doubles AiLO’s previous commitment to Nikola’s zero-emissions technology and underscores its dedication to sustainable logistics practices.
The delivery of the Nikola FCEV trucks is scheduled for 2025 and will play a crucial role in AiLO’s ongoing efforts to decarbonize its operations. As one of the first fleets to utilize near-zero technology powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), AiLO has consistently demonstrated its commitment to environmental stewardship.
The integration of Nikola FCEVs into AiLO’s fleet aligns with the company’s Green Supply Chain Goals (GSG) and its mission to achieve zero emissions. AiLO’s comprehensive product offerings encompass a wide range of services tailored to meet the diverse needs of its clients, including Drayage, 3PL, Dedicated Service, Cartage, Local and Regional Haul, Cross-Border Operations, and Warehouse and Cross-Dock Solutions. Each service is delivered with a steadfast commitment to excellence, reliability, and environmental responsibility.
The Port of Los Angeles, where AiLO operates, has witnessed a significant increase in cargo volume in recent months. In the first four months of 2024, local dockworkers moved a staggering 3,150,841 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) across marine terminals, marking a remarkable increase of nearly 25% compared to the previous year. This escalating demand underscores the need for efficient and sustainable logistics solutions.
AiLO’s partnership with Nikola positions the company to meet these growing demands while simultaneously reducing its environmental footprint. The Nikola FCEV trucks offer zero tailpipe emissions and a range of up to 500 miles, making them an ideal solution for port drayage operations. The trucks will be integrated into AiLO’s existing fleet, which currently includes over 200 CNG- and RNG-powered trucks.
“We’re not just in the business of moving goods; we’re in the business of moving businesses forward. Through innovation, technology, and sustainable practices, we aim to redefine the logistics landscape and drive positive change in the industry,” said Evan Locke, AiLO CEO.
“This strategic move to incorporate Nikola FCEVs into our operations reaffirms our commitment to environmental stewardship and underscores our proactive approach toward embracing cutting-edge technologies.”
A distinctive black and colored-striped AiLO truck will be featured at Nikola’s Ride and Drive event area at the 2024 Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo. The event provides an opportunity for AiLO to showcase its commitment to sustainable logistics and engage with industry stakeholders.
