Kazakhstan’s flag carrier, Air Astana, is making its mark in the Middle East with the addition of new routes to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Jeddah. This expansion, announced in a recent press release, marks another step in the airline’s strategy to solidify its position in key international markets.
The new routes will begin operation on October 26, 2024, with flights from Atyrau in western Kazakhstan to Dubai. This will be followed by flights from Astana to Abu Dhabi on October 30, and from Almaty to Abu Dhabi starting December 12. All routes will operate twice weekly, utilizing the airline’s modern Airbus A321neo and Airbus A321LR aircraft. These advanced aircraft offer superior fuel efficiency, enhanced passenger comfort, and extended range capabilities, making them ideal for medium to long-haul flights.
This strategic expansion is a direct response to the growing demand for travel between Kazakhstan and the Middle East, particularly from business travelers, tourists, and those undertaking religious pilgrimages. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are renowned destinations for leisure and business, while Jeddah serves as a gateway to Makkah, drawing in travelers seeking religious experiences.
These new services will bolster Air Astana’s already extensive Middle East offerings, which currently include 20 weekly flights from Almaty and Astana to Dubai, and six weekly flights from Almaty and Shymkent to Saudi Arabia. This expansion allows Kazakhstan to further connect with the region’s flourishing tourism and economic hubs, stimulating trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two areas.
Beyond passenger services, these new routes will also strengthen cargo transport opportunities. This will facilitate the export of Kazakh goods to the Middle East, further fostering trade partnerships.
Air Astana’s growing presence in the Middle East underscores its commitment to connecting Kazakhstan with major international markets. These new routes offer passengers greater flexibility and convenience in their travel plans, making it easier than ever to experience the diverse offerings of this dynamic region.
