Air Canada Expands European Network with New Routes to Italy, Portugal, and Czech Republic

Air Canada is preparing to expand its European flight offerings with the introduction of three exciting new routes next summer. The airline is set to connect Montreal to Naples, Italy, and Porto, Portugal, with the addition of two new routes from Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL). Simultaneously, Air Canada will reintroduce flights to Prague, Czech Republic, from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), marking a return to the destination after a five-year hiatus.

The Montreal-Naples route will commence on May 16, 2025, and will operate four times weekly using the Boeing 787-8. The Montreal-Porto route will follow shortly after, beginning on June 4, 2025, also with four weekly flights but using the 737-8 aircraft. The reintroduction of the Toronto-Prague route will start on June 6, 2025, and operate three times weekly on the 787-8. This route will be offered seasonally, running until late September.

With the addition of the Montreal-Naples route, Naples Airport will now have four direct summer-season services to North America, joining flights already offered by American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines. In Portugal, Air Canada previously operated a route to Porto from Toronto until October 2019, but has since focused on Lisbon. The new Montreal-Porto route will place Air Canada in direct competition with Air Transat, which currently operates the same route four times a week. The Toronto-Prague route will also add competition in the market, as Delta currently offers the only direct service between Prague and North America from JFK using 767-300 aircraft.

These new routes will provide travelers with more options for exploring Europe and will also boost competition in these markets. The addition of these routes is part of Air Canada’s strategy to expand its network and offer more choices to its customers. The airline is confident that these new routes will be successful and will attract travelers from both Canada and the United States.
