Air India has announced a new policy for international departures from Delhi, requiring passengers to complete check-in at least 75 minutes before their flight’s scheduled departure time. This change, effective immediately, replaces the previous 60-minute deadline, aiming to provide a more seamless and comfortable travel experience for all passengers. The airline emphasizes that the extended check-in time allows for ample time to complete check-in procedures and security clearance, especially during busy periods. Air India kindly requests passengers to arrive at the airport well in advance of this new deadline to avoid any potential delays or inconveniences.
In August, Air India had initially announced this policy change, specifying that the new check-in deadline would take effect on September 10, 2024. The airline had also urged passengers to be mindful of the adjusted time frame and arrive at check-in counters promptly.
Apart from the check-in policy update, Air India is on track to introduce Wi-Fi services onboard its flights, beginning with the A350 aircraft operating the Delhi-London Heathrow route. The Tata Group-owned airline has already commenced services on this route with the A350-900 plane, offering two daily flights. The A350-900 aircraft will replace the existing Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on 14 of the 17 weekly flights, resulting in an increase of 336 seats available on the Delhi-London Heathrow route each week.
Simultaneously, the Union Minister of Civil Aviation, K Ram Mohan Naidu, launched the DigiYatra facility on September 6th. This innovative initiative aims to streamline and enhance the passenger experience by providing contactless, seamless, and smart processing based on real-time facial biometric validation. The facility was inaugurated at Visakhapatnam Airport and extended virtually to eight other AAI Airports, marking a significant step forward in providing a more digital and convenient travel experience for air travelers across India.
