Air India Launches Real-Time Baggage Tracking Feature

Air India, India’s premier global airline, has introduced a groundbreaking feature that brings peace of mind and convenience to its passengers. The airline has launched a real-time baggage tracking feature, accessible through its mobile app and website. This innovative development allows passengers to monitor the whereabouts of their checked-in baggage throughout their journey. By utilizing real-time information from network airports and a robust cloud applications infrastructure, Air India has joined an elite group of airlines worldwide offering this direct and convenient service to its guests.

The baggage tracking feature simplifies the process for passengers. They can scan the barcode on their baggage receipts to track their bags. Alternatively, if the trip is added to the app, the tracking information will automatically appear in the ‘My Trips’ section shortly after check-in. This feature is also available on the Air India website under the ‘Track Your Bags’ tab in the Book & Manage section.

Developed by Air India’s digital technology and design teams in collaboration with the airline’s airport operations department, this feature provides a seamless end-to-end baggage tracking experience with minimal data entry.

Air India’s commitment to leveraging technology for improved passenger services is evident in this new feature. The airline plans to further enhance the tracking experience with a range of notifications, including updates such as baggage carousel information upon arrival.

“In our ongoing efforts to elevate the guest experience by embracing innovative digital technology, we are now able to provide real-time baggage status to our guests. This customer-centric initiative is a significant milestone in our transformation journey. Our mobile app serves as the ideal platform for our guests to utilize this feature as it provides specific information related to baggage within the ‘My Trips’ segment. Guests can also conveniently add baggage tags by scanning with their mobile phone’s camera,” said Dr. Satya Ramaswamy, Chief Digital and Technology Officer, Air India.
