AirAsia Cambodia has embarked on a heartwarming Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program titled “Every Cambodian Can Fly.” This initiative aims to bring the joy of flying to those who have never experienced it before, specifically targeting underprivileged children.
As part of their mission to make air travel accessible to all, AirAsia Cambodia arranged for 75 underprivileged children from five different orphanages across Cambodia to embark on their first-ever flight experience. These children were flown to Siem Reap, the cultural heart of Cambodia, where they were treated to a day of exploration and wonder.
Their adventure included a visit to the iconic Angkor Wat Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its architectural brilliance and historical significance. They also enjoyed a delicious lunch at Wat Preah Prom Rath, a beautiful Buddhist temple known for its serene atmosphere and intricate carvings. The children were further captivated by a tour of the Angkor Wildlife and Aquarium, where they discovered a diverse range of fascinating animals and marine life.
After a day filled with excitement and new experiences, the children returned to Phnom Penh on an evening flight, their hearts filled with memories they would cherish forever.
This initiative, beyond creating unforgettable experiences for these children, serves a larger purpose. It is designed to ignite a sense of adventure and build confidence among Cambodians, while simultaneously supporting Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet’s “Visit Siem Reap Year 2024” campaign. By enriching the lives of these children, the program also aims to strengthen tourism efforts and celebrate the rich heritage of Siem Reap, showcasing its unique attractions to a wider audience.
This inaugural flight symbolizes the beginning of a broader effort to make air travel a more integral part of life in Cambodia. It underscores AirAsia Cambodia’s dedication to community engagement and marks the start of a movement to enhance accessibility and familiarity with air travel across the nation.
Vissoth Nam, CEO of AirAsia Cambodia, expressed his pride in launching this meaningful CSR initiative, stating, “We are proud to launch this meaningful CSR initiative, which not only gives the underprivileged children their first experience of flying but also supports the ‘Visit Siem Reap Year 2024’ campaign.”
He further emphasized the importance of their domestic network, demonstrating its ability to connect key destinations across the country. “This is more than just a flight,” he stated, “It is a testament to AirAsia Cambodia’s dedication to making a positive impact on the communities we serve. Our vision is to make air travel accessible for everyone, and this is a significant step towards achieving that goal.”
The program’s success was made possible through the invaluable collaboration of esteemed partners such as the Cambodian Red Cross, Cambodia Airport, IBC, Burger King, Angkor Wildlife and Aquarium, Almond Hospitality, and Steung Siem Reap Hotel. These organizations and individuals played a crucial role in bringing the vision to life, aligning with AirAsia Cambodia’s commitment to enriching the lives of the children and their communities.
