AirAsia Expands Southeast Asia Connectivity with New Routes to Kuala Lumpur from Da Lat and Chiang Rai
Tourism Malaysia is thrilled to announce the return of AirAsia’s direct flights connecting Da Lat, Vietnam (DLI) to Kuala Lumpur (KUL), which resumed on November 1, 2024. In addition, a brand-new route from Chiang Rai, Thailand (CEI) to Kuala Lumpur commenced on November 2, 2024. These exciting developments highlight AirAsia’s dedication to strengthening regional connectivity and providing more accessible travel options for those seeking to explore Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
To celebrate these launches, Tourism Malaysia’s Deputy Director General (Promotion II), Mr. Lee Thai Hung, will host a special reception at KLIA Terminal 2. This event, aimed at welcoming guests and passengers, showcases Malaysia’s renowned hospitality and underscores the strong partnership between Tourism Malaysia and AirAsia in promoting Malaysia as a leading ASEAN travel destination.
The reinstated Da Lat-Kuala Lumpur flight, designated AK 572, operates four times a week. Departing Da Lat at 12:40 p.m., it arrives in Kuala Lumpur at 3:55 p.m. With a capacity of 180 seats on an A320 aircraft, this route caters to both leisure and business travelers seeking convenient connections.
The newly introduced Chiang Rai-Kuala Lumpur route, AK 872, operates three times weekly. Departing Chiang Rai at 1:45 p.m., it reaches Kuala Lumpur at 5:55 p.m., seamlessly connecting northern Thailand and Malaysia with a 180-seat A320 aircraft.
As of September 2024, Malaysia welcomed 1,216,809 visitors from Thailand and 265,068 from Vietnam. These new routes are expected to further boost these numbers, facilitating greater travel and cultural exchange between Malaysia and its Southeast Asian neighbors.
