AirAsia is set to enhance its connectivity from its second-largest hub in Malaysia, Kota Kinabalu, by launching a new route to Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Beginning November 17, 2024, travelers can enjoy four weekly flights between these two bustling cities. This launch marks a significant milestone in AirAsia’s expansion efforts and cements Kota Kinabalu as a key hub, offering travelers more options to explore diverse destinations.
Kaohsiung becomes the 15th international destination served by AirAsia Malaysia (AK) from Kota Kinabalu, making AirAsia the only airline operating this direct route. By December 2024, AirAsia will operate a total of 105 weekly flights from Kota Kinabalu, connecting travelers to numerous destinations across ASEAN and beyond.
The introduction of this route follows a strong demand for travel between Kuala Lumpur and Kaohsiung. Since November 2022, over 80,000 passengers have traveled between these two cities, reflecting the growing interest in the vibrant Taiwanese destination.
To celebrate the launch, AirAsia is offering special promotional fares for the Kota Kinabalu-Kaohsiung route, starting from just RM269 one way. These limited-time fares are available until September 15, 2024, exclusively on the AirAsia MOVE app (formerly known as the airasia Superapp) and airasia.com. Travelers can book now for trips scheduled between November 17, 2024, and March 28, 2025.
Kaohsiung, known for its rich arts and culture scene, offers visitors a variety of experiences. Visitors can explore the iconic Pier-2 Art Center, or visit the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, which showcases stunning works by Taiwanese artists. For those seeking natural beauty, the Lianchihtan Scenic Area provides breathtaking views, while Cijin Beach, also known as “Little Jeju Island,” offers a peaceful retreat with serene sea views. Additionally, the city’s High-Speed Rail connection allows for easy access to Taipei, making it a prime destination for adventure and exploration.
