airBaltic and Air Canada Partner for Enhanced Connectivity Between Baltics and Canada

In a move aimed at bolstering travel options and fostering connectivity, Latvia’s national airline, airBaltic, and Canada’s flag carrier, Air Canada, have announced a new codeshare partnership. Effective October 23, 2024, this strategic agreement empowers both airlines to provide passengers with an expanded range of travel choices, catering to both leisure and business travelers. The partnership facilitates seamless connections between the Baltics and Canada, as well as destinations beyond these regions.

Expanding Horizons for Travelers

This codeshare partnership represents a significant step forward for both airlines, offering customers an enhanced travel experience. “We are pleased to announce our codeshare agreement with our long-term interline partner Air Canada, providing our customers with enhanced connectivity,” stated Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic. “This new codeshare partnership will now offer both airBaltic and Air Canada travellers expanded travel options between all three Baltic capitals and Canada, with a seamless one-stop connection through other European cities. We are looking forward to successful, long-term collaboration.”

Strengthening Baltic Connectivity

airBaltic remains committed to expanding its network through strategic partnerships with airlines around the world. “At airBaltic, we are committed to continuously expanding our network by not only adding new destinations but also establishing new partnerships with airlines around the world. Through these efforts, we are strengthening our position as the connectivity backbone of the entire Baltic region,” added Gauss.

A Strategic Alliance for Global Growth

Air Canada also welcomes this partnership as a testament to its global growth strategy. “Air Canada is very pleased to expand its longstanding relationship with airBaltic to enable greater connectivity and customer convenience when travelling between Canada and Northern Europe,” stated Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning at Air Canada. “This new codeshare partnership serves the strong commercial ties between Canada and the Baltic region and builds on Air Canada’s global growth strategy by leveraging its strong, non-stop network from Canada to Scandinavia and key European gateways, including Amsterdam.”

Expanding Route Network and Seamless Travel

The codeshare agreement will see airBaltic applying its BT code to select Air Canada routes, including flights from Toronto to Amsterdam and Copenhagen, as well as Air Canada’s seasonal services next summer from Montreal to Copenhagen and Amsterdam, and from Toronto to Stockholm. Conversely, Air Canada will place its AC code on 10 airBaltic routes, covering flights from Riga to Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Munich, and Stockholm, from Tallinn to Amsterdam, Brussels, Copenhagen, and Munich, and from Vilnius to Amsterdam.

The inaugural codeshare flight is scheduled for November 6, 2024, marking the beginning of a new era of enhanced connectivity between the Baltics and Canada.
