airBaltic and RECARO Aircraft Seating Announce Partnership for Enhanced Passenger Comfort
In a significant move, airBaltic, Latvia’s national airline, has joined forces with RECARO Aircraft Seating, a globally renowned aircraft seat manufacturer, to equip its Airbus A220-300 aircraft fleet with state-of-the-art economy class seats. This strategic alliance positions airBaltic as the first airline in Europe and the second worldwide to introduce these innovative RECARO seats on the A220-300 aircraft.
Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership. The announcement was officially made during the 2024 Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) held in Hamburg, Germany. The RECARO aircraft seats represent the epitome of industry excellence, combining innovative lightweight design with unparalleled ergonomic comfort. airBaltic passengers can eagerly anticipate a spacious and comfortable seating experience, featuring extra padding, integrated headrests, a generous 30-inch seat pitch, adjustable backrest recline, and conveniently placed USB-C power sources at every seat.
To ensure a cohesive and visually appealing cabin design, the new seats will be adorned with light grey leather upholstery. The first airBaltic A220-300 aircraft sporting these exceptional seats is anticipated to join the fleet in 2026.
