airBaltic Soars to New Heights: August Passenger Numbers Exceed 560,000

airBaltic, a leading Latvian airline, continues its upward climb, reporting a remarkable performance in August 2024. The airline transported over half a million passengers, marking a 13% increase compared to the same period last year. This surge in passenger numbers was accompanied by a robust 6% rise in the number of flights operated, reaching a total of 4,510 for the month. Notably, airBaltic achieved a historic high for the second consecutive month, reaching an 89.8% load factor in August – a significant 6.6 percentage point improvement from the previous year.

Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic, highlighted the airline’s impressive performance, stating, “Throughout this summer, we have observed significant overall passenger growth with several record-breaking results and have continued to maintain strong operational performance with an increased number of flights. Recently, we announced plans to launch 16 new routes for the upcoming summer season from the Baltic States – four from Riga, five from Tallinn, and seven from Vilnius. airBaltic is the connectivity backbone for the entire Baltic region and with the continuing network expansion, we are further strengthening our position as the leading and most favored airline in the Baltic States.”

Furthermore, airBaltic achieved unprecedented milestones in Estonia and Lithuania during August, surpassing previous passenger and flight records for the month at these bases. Passenger numbers soared by 20% in Estonia and 26% in Lithuania, while flight operations increased by 17% and 21% respectively, setting new records for both metrics.

In a strategic move to further expand its reach and enhance connectivity, airBaltic unveiled plans to introduce 16 new routes across the Baltic States. These new additions include destinations like Mykonos, Cluj-Napoca, Stavanger, Ibiza, and Rzeszów, providing both leisure and business travelers with expanded travel possibilities. The expansion also includes increased flight frequencies on eight routes from Riga and four each from Tallinn and Vilnius.

airBaltic operates an extensive network, serving more than 130 routes from its bases in Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, Tampere, and seasonally from Gran Canaria. This network encompasses Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus, offering a wide array of connection options throughout the airline’s extensive route network.
