Aja Naomi King has been cast in NBC’s upcoming drama pilot ‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’, joining a cast that includes Melissa Fumero (‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’), AnnaSophia Robb (‘The Carrie Diaries’), and Ben Rappaport (‘Ozark’). The series follows four women from different walks of life who are members of a suburban garden club. As they try to find excitement in their conventional lives, they are drawn into a world of murder and mischief. King will play Catherine, an unhappily married mother of two and a realtor who finds escape from her loneliness in the garden society’s juicy secrets. The pilot also features Matthew Davis (‘The Vampire Diaries’) and Alexander Hodge (‘Insecure’), and is written by Bill Krebs, the writer behind ‘Desperate Housewives’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. Maggie Kiley is directing the pilot and executive producing with Bans via Minnesota Logging Co., Krebs, and Casey Kyber.
Aja Naomi King is best known for her role as Michaela Pratt in the ABC crime thriller ‘How to Get Away with Murder’, where she starred alongside Viola Davis for the show’s entire six-season run. She also recently starred alongside Brie Larson in the Apple TV+ limited series ‘Lessons in Chemistry’. Her film roles include ‘The Upside’, alongside Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart, and the romantic drama ‘Slyvie’s Love’.
