Hailing from a family of engineers, Akshay Bhagwat’s decision to become a chef was met with skepticism. However, his 91-year-old grandmother, a culinary maestro, became his inspiration. Bhagwat’s drive led him to work in renowned European establishments, bringing his culinary expertise to India through Eatally.
Despite a saturated market, Eatally stands out with its commitment to pure ingredients and innovative flavors. Bhagwat’s refusal to offer unconventional combinations, such as vanilla ice cream with crispy bacon, reflects his understanding of Indian tastes. Instead, Eatally offers heartfelt flavors like Royal Alphonso Mango, using the finest fruit from Bhagwat’s childhood Konkan farms, and Cranberry-Litchi, featuring the company’s own cranberry compote.
Eatally’s success stems from repeat customers, with monthly sales growing from 100-150 in 2019 to over 2,500 today. After facing setbacks during the pandemic, Eatally secured funding and expanded its manufacturing to Sinhagad Road in Pune. In 2023, the company entered Mumbai and received a positive response. Bhagwat’s vision is to establish Eatally as India’s premier mass-produced premium ice cream brand, catering to discerning palates nationwide.
