Akshay Kumar Tests Positive for COVID-19, Misses Anant Ambani’s Grand Wedding

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar will be missing the highly anticipated wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, scheduled for Friday, July 12, after testing positive for COVID-19. The actor, who was actively promoting his latest film, ‘Sarfira,’ had been experiencing symptoms over the past few days. Upon testing positive, he has isolated himself and is following his doctor’s recommendations.

A source close to the actor revealed that Akshay Kumar’s decision to get tested came after some members of his promotion team tested positive for the virus. The source stated, “The actor tested positive on Friday morning and would end up missing the last leg of promotions, as well as Anant Ambani’s wedding for which Anant had personally gone to invite him.” The source added, “It’s disappointing, but the responsible guy that Akshay is, he has immediately isolated himself.” The recent surge in COVID-19 cases, coinciding with the onset of the monsoon season, has raised concerns.

Meanwhile, the grand wedding ceremony, following months of elaborate pre-wedding festivities, is set to take place at Mumbai’s Jio World Centre. The event is expected to be a star-studded affair, with a distinguished guest list including prominent figures from diverse sectors. Sources familiar with the guest list, speaking anonymously, confirmed the attendance of individuals such as HSBC Holdings plc Chairman Mark Tucker, Samsung Electronics Co Ltd Executive Chairman Jay Lee, and notable political figures like former UK Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Tony Blair. Celebrities including Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, Ram Charan, and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have already made their way to Mumbai for the grand occasion. Anant Ambani, son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika, daughter of industrialist Viren Merchant, will be tying the knot in a celebration that promises to be a highlight of the social calendar.
