Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akti or Akha Teej, is an annual Jain and Hindu spring festival that marks one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu religion. It falls on May 10 this year, and the puja muhurat will begin at 4:17 am and end at 2:50 am the following day.
The term ‘Akshaya’ implies eternal, while ‘Tritiya’ means the third day of Shukla Paksha. According to popular belief, performing auspicious activities on this day brings lifelong prosperity. People start new business ventures, jobs, and houses, and mark the day with religious activities. It is also considered auspicious to purchase gold, silver, and ornaments, as it is believed to bring success, good fortune, and prosperity.
On Akshaya Tritiya, people offer prayers to deities, decorate temples, and hold special pujas. They worship Lord Kuber and Goddess Laxmi, the Goddess of abundance and prosperity. Charity and donation mark the day, as some people set up food stalls to feed the poor and needy.
