Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, the renowned Texas-based theater chain, has elevated Chaya Rosenthal to the position of Chief Marketing Officer. With a proven track record of success spanning over two decades in the marketing field, Rosenthal has been an integral part of Alamo Drafthouse since 2017, previously holding the role of Vice President of Marketing. Her extensive experience encompasses pivotal roles at Fandango and its parent company, NBCUniversal, prior to joining Alamo Drafthouse.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has carved a niche for itself in the industry, not only through its delectable menu featuring craft beer and locally sourced cuisine, but also through its captivating themed events tied to both new and classic films. Rosenthal has played a pivotal role in elevating these tailored in-theater experiences, including a memorable “Barbie”-themed “dress up and slumber party” screening and an “Asteroid City” pop-up in the lobby of Alamo Drafthouse Manhattan. Her recent spearheading of the Time Capsule Series, which brought back revered classic and cult films from specific years, proved successful in maintaining theater attendance between blockbuster releases.
Rosenthal’s passion for Alamo Drafthouse is evident in her words, “From the moment I first stepped into an Alamo Drafthouse in 2006, it instantly held a special place in my heart. Upon returning to Los Angeles from Austin, I couldn’t resist sharing my enthusiasm with friends and colleagues.” She further expressed her admiration for the chain’s unique pre-show entertainment and delectable offerings, stating, “It was something special that I knew I had to be part of.” Today, she relishes the opportunity to represent such a beloved brand and collaborate with a team of passionate and creative individuals to celebrate the magic of film and food.
Rosenthal’s promotion coincides with reports that Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, known for its fan-centric approach to moviegoing and in-theater dining, is exploring a potential sale. According to sources, several Hollywood studios have been approached to gauge their interest in acquiring the company. However, it remains uncertain whether the discussions are still ongoing or how close the company is to a potential acquisition. Currently, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema operates approximately 40 locations across the United States, with a recently announced addition in Naples, Florida.
