Alex Cooper, the host of the popular podcast “Call Her Daddy,” and Matt Kaplan, a television producer known for his work on shows like “To the Boys I’ve Loved Before” and “XO, Kitty,” have tied the knot in a stunning beachside wedding ceremony in Riviera Maya, Mexico in April 2024.
Cooper and Kaplan’s nuptials were an intimate affair, with the ceremony starting promptly at 5 p.m. The couple’s decision to have a smaller, more personal wedding allowed them to focus on creating a celebration that truly reflected their love and commitment to each other.
Cooper, who has been open about her unconventional views on marriage in the past, opted to have her brother, Grant, officiate the ceremony instead of her father. She explained that while she has a close relationship with her father, she never felt connected to the tradition of being walked down the aisle by a man and handed over to another.
The ceremony was filled with heartfelt moments, including the involvement of Cooper and Kaplan’s beloved dogs as ring bearers. Cooper couldn’t help but gush about the perfection of having her furry friends share in their special day.
When asked about the planning process, Cooper credited Kaplan for taking the lead and making it a dream. She praised his meticulous planning and attention to detail, which ensured that everything went smoothly.
The couple’s journey to the altar began in July 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, when they met through a Zoom meeting for Cooper’s podcast. Despite the unconventional start, their connection was undeniable, and they soon began dating.
Cooper, who had previously expressed doubts about marriage, had a change of heart after realizing Kaplan’s unwavering commitment to their relationship. She shared that she woke up one day and realized that his love and dedication had shifted her perspective on marriage.
The proposal was equally romantic, with Kaplan setting up a fake photo shoot for Cooper and then surprising her with a heartfelt video message and a scavenger hunt that led her to him waiting in their courtyard garden with their dog, Henry.
Cooper and Kaplan’s wedding was a testament to their love and commitment to each other. It was a celebration that was uniquely their own, filled with personal touches and heartfelt moments. As Cooper said, it was “everything we wanted it to be.”
