On January 26, 2022, 23-year-old Alexis Gabe vanished after visiting her ex-boyfriend, Marshall Curtis Jones III, in Antioch, California. Despite a massive search, Gabe remained missing, and Jones quickly became the prime suspect. His suspicious actions, including Google searches related to murder and disposing of a body, raised concerns. A Ring camera captured Jones unloading “heavy, bulky bags” from his car upon returning to his mother’s home shortly after Gabe’s disappearance.
Jones was subsequently interviewed by police but denied leaving his house that evening. However, a forensic examination of his phone revealed suspicious searches, further implicating him. A search of Jones’ mother’s home uncovered plane tickets to Washington and a missing person’s flyer for Gabe. Authorities also tracked Jones’ cellphone to his sister’s residence in Vacaville and later to a remote area in Amador County, where a handwritten note with directions was found.
In November 2022, after an extensive search, Gabe’s remains were discovered in two locations in Amador County. The exact cause of death is still under investigation. Jones was killed in a confrontation with U.S. Marshals during an arrest attempt, but his words captured on the Ring camera and other evidence continue to be analyzed.
Jones’ mother, Alicia Coleman-Clark, was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory, but charges against her were declined. Gabe’s family has urged prosecutors to revisit the case, particularly in light of the ongoing forensic examination of her remains. The “Where is Alexis?” documentary will air on Investigation Discovery channel on April 24 and will also be available for streaming on various platforms.
