Alexis Whitfield, a former star player for both UCSB and Washington, has officially signed a contract with the Oregon Ducks women’s basketball team. Whitfield, standing tall at 6-foot-2, is renowned for her versatility and ability to excel in various positions on the court. During her previous season at UCSB, she showcased her exceptional skills, averaging 15.1 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, which earned her a well-deserved spot on the first team all-Big West roster.
Whitfield’s impressive career began at the University of Washington. Now, with one year of eligibility remaining, she brings a wealth of experience to the Ducks’ program. Oregon coach Kelly Graves expressed his enthusiasm about Whitfield’s addition, highlighting her exceptional ability to play multiple positions and contribute to the team’s success. He praised her efficient scoring capabilities, both in the paint and from beyond the three-point arc, as well as her strong rebounding skills, defensive presence, and court vision.
Throughout her collegiate career, Whitfield has consistently delivered impressive performances. In her most recent season, she recorded 10 20-point games and 10 double-doubles, demonstrating her offensive prowess. Her shooting accuracy is also noteworthy, with a field goal percentage of 46%, a three-point shooting percentage of 38.3%, and a free throw percentage of 71%. Whitfield’s impressive statistics are a testament to her hard work and dedication on the court.
Whitfield’s commitment to Oregon adds to the team’s growing roster of talented players. She joins Elisa Mevius (Siena) and Salimatou Kourouma (Arizona), two other standout transfers who have recently signed with the Ducks. With these additions, Oregon now has a solid lineup of 11 scholarship players for the 2024-25 season.
