Alisson’s Return Imminent, Chiesa Set for Liverpool Debut

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has revealed that goalkeeper Alisson Becker is on the verge of a return to action, aiming to feature in the Reds’ Premier League clash against Wolves this weekend. The Brazilian international has been sidelined with a hamstring injury and missed their League Cup third-round match against West Ham on Wednesday.

Backup keeper Caoimhin Kelleher stepped in admirably for Alisson, keeping a clean sheet in the 3-0 win against Bournemouth on Saturday and will continue in goal for the West Ham fixture.

Slot commented on Alisson’s recovery, saying, “Alisson is getting there, but I think this game is coming just a bit too early. We are looking at the weekend against Wolves, but it’s going to be tight. He will not be there tomorrow so Caoimh will be in goal.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool fans are eagerly anticipating the potential debut of Italian forward Federico Chiesa. The summer signing, who joined from Juventus, is gradually building up his fitness and could feature from the start against West Ham.

Slot expressed cautious optimism regarding Chiesa’s readiness, stating, “I don’t think he’s able to play 90 minutes; he only played 25 minutes as a maximum in the last three, four, five months. But he is able to start, in our opinion.”

The news of Alisson’s imminent return and Chiesa’s potential debut will be welcomed by Liverpool supporters as they gear up for a busy and challenging season.
