Alleged Assault on Kangana Ranaut: FIR Registered, Bollywood Divided
Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) lady constable Kulwinder Kaur has been accused of slapping Bollywood actor and politician Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh airport on Thursday. According to Ranaut, the incident occurred after she completed a security check. She claims that Kaur waited for her to pass through the cabin and then approached her from the side, hitting her in the face and verbally abusing her.
Following the incident, an FIR has been registered against Kaur under IPC sections 321 and 341. However, she has not been arrested yet, as the offense is bailable.
The incident has drawn mixed reactions from Bollywood celebrities. Some, such as Raveena Tandon, Devoleena Bhattacharjee, Anupam Kher, Shabana Azmi, Mika Singh, and Shekhar Suman, have expressed support for Ranaut and called for strict action against Kaur.
However, others have defended Kaur’s actions. Singer Vishal Dadlani expressed sympathy for Kaur, who claimed that her mother had participated in the farmers’ protest that Ranaut had criticized. Dadlani has also offered to provide job support to Kaur if she is removed from service.
Meanwhile, farmer leaders have sought a fair probe into the incident and requested a meeting with Kaur and her family. They believe that the incident should not be sensationalized and that a proper investigation should be conducted.
SAD MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal criticized Ranaut’s behavior and urged her to understand her responsibility as a leader. She also condemned Ranaut’s comments after the incident, saying that she should not have labeled the farmers as terrorists.
The incident has sparked a debate on extremism and terrorism in Punjab, with Ranaut questioning how it can be eradicated. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and it remains to be seen what further actions will be taken.
