Alstom and Škoda Group Expand Partnership to Enhance RegioJet Train Safety with ETCS Level 2

## Alstom and Škoda Group Expand Partnership to Enhance RegioJet Train Safety with ETCS Level 2

Alstom, a global leader in innovative and sustainable transportation solutions, has taken a significant step towards enhancing rail safety and efficiency in Europe. The company has signed an addendum to its existing contract with Škoda Group, further solidifying their partnership to equip RegioJet trains with Alstom’s advanced ETCS Level 2 Onvia CabTM system (formerly known as AtlasTM).

This expansion of the collaboration will see fifteen two-car and eight three-car electric units for RegioJet receive the cutting-edge signaling technology. The delivery of these systems is scheduled to commence in the first half of 2025. This investment in ETCS Level 2 technology signifies a commitment to enhancing the safety and efficiency of European rail transportation, while simultaneously reinforcing Alstom and Škoda Group’s dedication to sustainable and forward-thinking mobility solutions.

A Key to Improved Safety and Efficiency

With traffic volume and density on the rise, and rail transport becoming increasingly international, the need for cutting-edge signaling technology is paramount. The ETCS, a standardized safety system for railways operating across borders, is already implemented in many European nations. This system plays a crucial role in enhancing train management by enabling closer train intervals and boosting safety through automatic slowing down or stopping of trains that are traveling too quickly or are too close to each other.

Alstom’s Commitment to European Rail

Dan Kurucz, Managing Director of Alstom Czech Republic and Slovakia, expressed his pride in offering innovative and competitive signaling solutions that not only increase train traffic frequency but also ensure railway safety. He highlighted the contract as a testament to RegioJet’s confidence in Alstom’s reliable solutions and emphasized Alstom’s leading position in onboard equipment installations in the Czech Republic, with over 700 units installed.

This expanded partnership between Alstom and Škoda Group represents a significant step forward in the evolution of European rail transportation. By equipping RegioJet trains with advanced ETCS Level 2 technology, they are paving the way for a safer, more efficient, and sustainable future of rail travel across the continent.
