Alstom Unveils Next-Generation Innovia 300R Trains at Denver International Airport

Alstom, a leader in intelligent and green transportation solutions, has launched its latest InnoviaTM APM 300R trains at Denver International Airport. These new vehicles will facilitate passenger movement across the Terminal and Concourses A, B, and C, marking a significant step forward in the airport’s commitment to improving passenger experience and accommodating its ever-growing passenger traffic.

“Alstom is proud to begin a new chapter in our 30-year relationship with Denver International Airport,” said Michael Keroullé, President Alstom Americas. “This next generation of airport mobility will bring better service for riders and a reduced environmental impact for the surrounding community.”

The Innovia 300R represents a significant upgrade in capacity, with the ability to deploy up to eight four-car trains simultaneously. This enhancement is crucial for handling the increasing passenger numbers at Denver International Airport, which ranks as the third busiest in the United States and the sixth worldwide. In 2023, the airport broke its record for passenger traffic and anticipates exceeding the 100 million passenger mark annually by 2030.

Denver International plans to expand its Automated People Mover (APM) fleet to 41 vehicles by 2024, with further expansions in the pipeline to meet both current and future demands. The Innovia 300R APMs are particularly well-suited for high-frequency operations, boasting a fully automated system that adjusts seamlessly between peak and non-peak periods.

Beyond its capacity enhancements, the Innovia 300R features an eco-friendly design, with car bodies made of lightweight aluminum and constructed from recyclable materials. They also operate on an energy-efficient power system, cutting the airport’s energy usage by over 30%, underscoring Alstom’s and Denver’s commitment to sustainable transportation solutions.

Since the airport’s inception in 1994, Alstom has been integral in operating and maintaining the airport’s APM system, achieving a remarkable 99.5% fleet availability rate across its U.S. APM clients. Alstom leads the U.S. market in the provision and operation of airport people movers, having safely and effectively transported over 525 million passengers at 16 different airports nationwide. With over half a century of reliable performance, the Innovia APM systems combine exceptional design, aesthetics, and cutting-edge technology for peak performance. To date, Alstom has installed more than 30 of its APM systems globally.
