Alstom, a global leader in innovative and eco-friendly solutions, and DSB, the Danish national railway authority, are delighted to announce that the IC5 Coradia Stream train has been awarded the coveted 2024 Red Dot Award for exceptional design. The Red Dot Design Award is one of the world’s most renowned design competitions, recognizing outstanding achievements in international design, product aesthetics, communication styles, and creative concepts.
This award follows a significant partnership between Alstom and DSB. In April 2021, the two companies signed a landmark framework agreement worth €2.6 billion, encompassing the delivery of 100 Coradia Stream trains and 15 years of comprehensive maintenance services.
The design of the IC5 train is a testament to the productive collaboration between Alstom and DSB. This partnership prioritized delivering a design that aligns with Danish values and addresses local needs, emphasizing authenticity and ethical principles.

The interior of the IC5 Coradia Stream trains showcases Alstom’s modern design philosophy, incorporating natural elements such as genuine wood and bare metal. This collaborative effort has resulted in a design that is both timeless and welcoming, enhancing passenger comfort. The thoughtfully arranged interior lighting not only guides passengers but also creates an improved ambiance through adjustable brightness and coordinated color schemes.
