For a Cartier event in Venice, Amal chose a shimmering creation from Bach Mai’s Resort 2023 collection. The American designer, known for his masterful blend of modernism and romanticism, described the collection as a “juxtaposition between expressive modernism and romanticism.” Amal’s choice, the “Lightning Storm” dress, features an ombré effect that Bach Mai drew inspiration from depictions of the Lady of the Lake, the enchanting figure from Arthurian legend.

Hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos, responsible for Amal’s voluminous curls, explained that he was inspired by Italian bombshells, particularly the legendary Sophia Loren. To achieve the look, he used a combination of Garnier Fructis Hair Filler Serum and Charlotte Tilbury products to add volume and shine. “We wanted to give her a classic Italian look,” Giannetos told Vogue, adding, “I couldn’t think of better inspiration than Sophia Loren. A big bouncy blowout and shimmery bronzy make-up was perfect.”
