Amazon Prime Day Offers Free ‘Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’ and Other Games

If you’ve been curious about the controversial ‘Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’, but haven’t wanted to spend money on it, now’s your chance. During Amazon Prime Day (July 16-17), you can claim the DC game for free – but you only have 48 hours. Starting at 3 a.m. ET, Prime subscribers can claim an Epic Games Store code for the game, which places Harley Quinn, King Shark, Captain Boomerang, and Deadshot against Brainiac. Brainiac has brainwashed members of the Justice League to do his bidding, and in true Suicide Squad fashion, the team must succeed or face explosive consequences.

This isn’t the only free game up for grabs this Prime Day. Amazon is also offering ‘Chivalry 2’ and ‘Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration’ for the Epic Games Store. There are also a number of titles available ahead of Prime Day, including ‘Deceive, Inc.’, ‘Tearstone: Thieves of the Heart’, ‘The Invisible Hand’, ‘Forager’, ‘Card Shark’, ‘Heaven Dust’, ‘2 Soulstice’, ‘Wall World’, ‘Hitman Absolution’, ‘Call of Juarez’, ‘Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood’, ‘Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords’, ‘Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX’, ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge’, and ‘Samurai Bringer’. For more information on availability, check the Amazon blog.

‘Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’ had a tumultuous development process, facing multiple delays. Bloomberg reported that developer Rocksteady, known for their ‘Batman: Arkham’ series, struggled to transition from single-player to a live-service title with four characters, leading to an inconsistent vision. Following its February release, Warner Bros. Discovery disclosed a $200 million loss on the game. Despite uninspiring microtransactions, repetitive gameplay, and a poorly received ‘Season of the Joker’ story expansion, the game is a fascinating failure, a cautionary tale about the pitfalls of live-service gaming.

Despite its shortcomings, ‘Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’ features a sometimes daring narrative and solid traversal mechanics. For free, it might be worth giving it a try.
