AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) is AMD’s driver-based frame generation solution that enhances performance in thousands of games with a compatible Radeon GPU and AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition. This one-click solution delivers lower latency and improved image quality, making it a game changer for various devices, including mobile devices like the Steam Deck. AMD has now launched AFMF 2 in ‘Technical Preview,’ boasting a significant upgrade with AI-optimized enhancements. AFMF 2 is available on all Radeon RX 6000 and 7000 Series graphics cards and AMD Ryzen Processors with integrated Radeon Graphics. AFMF 2’s new AI-optimized enhancements have improved the algorithm, resulting in smoother performance and reduced jitter, ultimately enhancing image quality. A new Performance Mode is also introduced, allowing AFMF 2 to adapt to a wider range of hardware, including mobile devices. The most significant improvement in AFMF 2 is lower latency. AMD claims up to 28% lower latency compared to the original AFMF when playing Cyberpunk 2077 in 4K. Counter-Strike 2 also sees a reduction in latency by up to 12% with AFMF 2 enabled. AFMF 2 also integrates seamlessly with AMD Radeon Anti-Lag 2 technology. The updated technology now supports borderless fullscreen, eliminating the need for ‘exclusive fullscreen’ mode. AFMF 2 now works with Vulkan and OpenGL games, expanding its compatibility to virtually all games. Furthermore, AMD has ensured that AFMF 2 works with AMD Radeon Chill, preventing FPS from exceeding the maximum refresh rate of your display, ultimately improving performance and image quality. The new AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition Preview Driver for AFMF 2 is available for download.
