AMD’s Fluid Motion Frames is a driver-based frame generation technology designed to enhance gaming performance without requiring per-game integration. This means it works across thousands of games with just a single click, unlike technologies like DLSS 3 or FSR 3. Recently, AMD introduced Fluid Motion Frames 2, an improved version of the technology aiming to match the performance of more advanced solutions.
In July, AMD released a technical preview driver for Fluid Motion Frames 2 as part of its HYPR-RX suite, allowing Radeon gamers to experiment with the latest version. The update promised improved image quality and latency reduction through AI-optimized enhancements, and it’s compatible with all Radeon RX 6000 and 7000 series graphics cards as well as AMD Ryzen processors with integrated Radeon Graphics.
This week, AMD has updated the AFMF 2 technical preview driver, addressing optimization and stability issues reported by the community. Notably, this update specifically mentions optimizations and improvements for the highly anticipated game, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
This inclusion is somewhat surprising as AMD initially presented AFMF 2 as a technology that wouldn’t necessitate per-game support or optimizations. It raises questions about the technology’s reliance on game-specific tweaking and whether future updates will include similar optimizations for other popular PC games.
According to AMD’s Release Notes, “We have updated our technical preview driver to include new game optimizations and general stability fixes, including several crash issues reported by the community. This AFMF 2 technical preview driver includes optimizations and improvements for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, giving gamers a high-quality frame generation experience when combined with the in-game support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 2.”
The update also addresses several other issues reported by users. If you own a Radeon GPU or a Ryzen chip with integrated Radeon graphics, you can download the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition Preview Driver for AFMF 2 from [link to download].
