American Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Vasu Raja to Depart in June

American Airlines Group Inc. announced today that Vasu Raja, the Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, will be leaving the airline in June. The departure marks a significant change in the airline’s executive team.

Raja has held the position of Chief Commercial Officer since April 2022. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in shaping the airline’s commercial strategies and operations. His leadership has been integral in navigating the complexities of the airline industry.

Prior to his role as Chief Commercial Officer, Raja served as Chief Revenue Officer and Senior Vice President of Network Strategy at American Airlines. In this capacity, he was responsible for overseeing the Network and Alliances, crucial areas that underpin the airline’s global operations.

Raja’s career with American Airlines began in 2004, and over the years, he has held various positions across Sales, Planning, and Revenue Management. His extensive experience and leadership have contributed significantly to the airline’s growth and operational success.

With Raja’s impending departure, Stephen Johnson, the Vice Chair and Chief Strategy Officer, will immediately assume leadership of the Commercial organization. In addition to his current duties, Johnson will also lead the search for a new Chief Commercial Officer, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity in leadership.
