American Airlines Expands European Network for Summer 2025

American Airlines is gearing up for an exciting summer in Europe with the addition of five new routes for 2025. This expansion signifies a strong commitment to transatlantic travel and provides passengers with more options to explore the continent.

The airline will resume flights to Edinburgh, Scotland (EDI) for the first time since 2019, re-establishing a link to the city’s historic charm and breathtaking landscapes. New routes to Athens, Greece (ATH); Madrid, Spain (MAD); Milan, Italy (MXP); and Rome, Italy (FCO) will further strengthen American’s presence in Europe, offering diverse cultural experiences and convenient access to iconic destinations.

Passengers departing from Philadelphia (PHL) will have access to over 80 domestic connections and 17 transatlantic routes, including the new Edinburgh route. American is also enhancing its Italian offerings with new flights from Miami (MIA) to Rome (FCO) and Philadelphia (PHL) to Milan (MXP), making it the leading U.S. airline for one-stop routes to Italy.

In 2025, American will launch a new route from Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT), to Athens (ATH), increasing its daily flights to Greece to four and providing more options for travelers from the United States to explore the country’s ancient history and vibrant culture. American will also connect its Chicago (ORD) hub with Madrid (MAD), strengthening its position as the leading U.S. airline for service to Spain and providing seamless access to destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa through its partnerships.

Looking beyond Europe, American is boosting its capacity on four routes to Asia for summer 2025. Larger aircraft will serve routes from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) and Los Angeles (LAX) to Japan, enhancing access to Tokyo and beyond. Codeshare services with American’s partners will offer easy connections to more than 30 additional destinations throughout Japan and East Asia.

With over 70 daily departures to more than 20 transatlantic destinations, American Airlines is poised for a busy summer of 2025. The airline will also be bringing back routes to Copenhagen, Denmark (CPH); Naples, Italy (NAP); and Nice, France (NCE) that were successfully launched in 2024. For those dreaming of visiting Paris, American will extend its winter seasonal service from MIA into the summer season, alongside three other transatlantic routes, providing travelers with more flexibility to explore top European destinations. American Airlines is dedicated to offering travelers more choices and convenient options to explore the world, making it an attractive option for both leisure and business travelers.
