American Airlines is closely monitoring Hurricane Milton and has taken steps to ensure passenger safety. The airline will halt operations at several Florida airports, effective Tuesday evening, October 8th. These include Orlando International Airport (MCO), Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB), and Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB). Operations have also been paused at Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ).
American Airlines is actively assessing the situation at other key locations, particularly the Miami International Airport (MIA) hub, and will continue to update operations based on evolving weather conditions.
To facilitate evacuations, American Airlines has scheduled additional flights out of MCO, providing over 2,000 seats on the evening of October 8th. This complements the earlier efforts where American managed similar evacuation flights from TPA and SRQ on October 7th.
