Michigan Tech’s Advanced Power Systems Laboratories (APS LABS), a multidisciplinary collaborative that develops clean, efficient, and sustainable mobility and power systems technologies, will lead the university’s partnership with ACM. APS LABS has a strong track record in mobility and energy sectors, including developing Level 4 connected and autonomous vehicles (L4 CAVs) for research and testing. They are also actively involved in projects sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, including the Energy Efficient Mobility Systems Model Validation project and the NEXTCAR project.
The NEXTCAR project, a partnership between ACM, General Motors, and Stellantis, aims to reduce energy consumption by 30% through forward-looking optimization and automated vehicle technologies.
