American Fiction Blu-ray Release Date Announced

Following its theatrical release last December, Discovery Home Entertainment has announced that the Blu-ray release date for Orion Pictures’ critically acclaimed dramedy ‘American Fiction’ is set for June 18th. The Jeffrey Wright-led movie has maintained its Certified Fresh Rating on Rotten Tomatoes since its debut, boasting a 93% Tomatometer score based on 282 reviews. It garnered five Oscar nominations, with director Cord Jefferson winning Best Adapted Screenplay.

‘American Fiction’ confronts our culture’s obsession with reducing people to offensive stereotypes. Wright plays Monk, a frustrated novelist who, fed up with the establishment profiting from tired and offensive ‘Black’ entertainment tropes, uses a pen name to write his own outlandish ‘Black’ book. This propels him to the heart of the hypocrisy and madness he claims to disdain.

Described as a ‘wickedly smart satire,’ ‘American Fiction’ was written and directed by Cord Jefferson, based on Percival Everett’s ‘Erasure’ novel. The cast also includes John Ortiz, Erika Alexander, Leslie Uggams, Adam Brody, Keith David, with Sanaa Lathan and Sterling K. Brown. Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman, Percival Everett, and Michael Bowes are the executive producers, while Jefferson, Ben LeClair, Nikos Karamigios, and Jermaine Johnson are the producers.

Maggie Dela Paz has been writing about the movie and TV industry for over four years, specializing in coming-of-age films and shows, K-Dramas, and K-Pop. Currently, she’s obsessed with FX’s ‘The Bear’ and the popular anime ‘My Hero Academia’.
