Americans Favor Democrat Success in Legislating Over Republicans

Americans perceive Democrats as more successful in passing legislation than Republicans, according to a recent poll. Over half of Americans (53%) expressed that Democrats are more effective in pushing legislation through when they hold the majority in the House of Representatives. Conversely, less than one-third (29%) believe the GOP is successful in passing bills when in power.

Democratic and Republican perspectives on party effectiveness diverge significantly. The majority of Democrats (73%) view their party as capable of passing legislation, while only 21% view Republicans as effective. Republicans, however, perceive both Democrats and Republicans (40% and 41%, respectively) as equally successful in passing bills when they have the majority in the House.

Despite the perceived disparities, the poll also indicates that only a fifth of Americans support replacing Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), and his favorability among Democrats has increased since December.
