Amit Shah Accuses Mamata Banerjee of Obstructing Citizenship for Refugees

Addressing a roadshow in Malda South, Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of hindering refugees’ access to Indian citizenship by opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA). Shah urged the people of Bengal to vote for the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, highlighting the unabated infiltration continuing under the Trinamool Congress (TMC) regime and emphasizing that only a BJP victory could effectively address it. He stated, “Under the Trinamool Congress rule, infiltration is continuing unabated. Mamata didi is opposing the CAA and not allowing refugees to get citizenship. If you want to stop infiltration and corruption, vote for the BJP.” At a Karandighi rally, Shah asserted that neither Congress nor Mamata Banerjee would dare to interfere with the CAA.
