On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah delivered a powerful message on the importance of cybersecurity at the first Foundation Day celebration of the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) in New Delhi. Addressing the gathering, Shah underscored that cybercrime transcends borders and poses a serious threat to national security. “Cybersecurity is fundamental to our country’s progress. Without it, our advancements are at risk,” he stated.
The Home Minister stressed the critical need for collaborative efforts to curb cybercrime. “Cybercrime knows no boundaries. We must all work together to address this menace,” he declared. He further highlighted the increasing reliance on digital transactions in India, stating that “Forty-six percent of the world’s digital transactions are taking place in India.” Recognizing the evolving nature of cyber threats, Shah announced the government’s ambitious plan to train 5,000 cyber commandos over the next five years. This initiative aims to bolster India’s capacity to combat cybercrime effectively.
In addition to his speech, Shah unveiled four new platforms designed to enhance cybercrime prevention in India. These platforms will serve as valuable tools for law enforcement agencies and cybersecurity professionals, empowering them to effectively address the evolving landscape of cyber threats.
The I4C Foundation Day event served as a crucial platform to raise awareness about cybercrime and the importance of cybersecurity in India. The Home Minister’s pronouncements and the launch of the new platforms underscore the government’s commitment to strengthening India’s cyber defenses and ensuring a secure digital future.
