Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday delivered a scathing critique of alleged corruption in Bengal, following Calcutta High Court’s decision to nullify 25,757 school appointments. Addressing a rally in Raiganj, Shah alleged that each job had been sold for between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh and predicted that the BJP would win 30 to 35 of Bengal’s 42 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
He highlighted the recent raid that seized Rs 51 crore from the residence of Minister Partha Chatterjee and questioned why Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had not suspended him from the Trinamool Congress (TNC). “This cut-money culture in Bengal has to stop,” Shah asserted, accusing Banerjee’s government of promoting “the rule of corruption.”
Shah further alleged that Rs 7.75 lakh crore in central funds sent to Bengal had not reached the intended beneficiaries in villages and condemned the atrocities in Sandeshkhali. He vowed that if the BJP formed the government in Bengal, it would bring law and order to the state and eliminate Banerjee’s “goons.”
