Amy Adams to Star in New Drama From Hungarian Filmmaker Kornél Mundruczó

Academy Award nominee Amy Adams is set to star in the latest drama from Hungarian filmmaker Kornél Mundruczó, the visionary behind acclaimed films such as “Pieces of a Woman” and “Jupiter’s Moon.” The untitled project marks a reunion for Mundruczó and Kata Wéber, his frequent collaborator who co-wrote and penned the script for the upcoming feature.

A stellar ensemble of producers is backing the drama, including Alexander Rodnyansky of AR Content (“Leviathan”), Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett of Ryder Picture Company (“The King’s Speech”), Alex Lebovici and Jon Oakes of Hammerstone Studios (“Judy”), and Stuart Manashil and Viktória Petrányi, who produced Mundruczó’s previous film “Evolution.” Mundruczó himself will also serve as a producer.

The story follows the life of a woman who, after a long rehabilitation, returns to her family at their beach holiday home where she has to readjust to the complicated life she left behind. Now she is forced to face the next chapter of her life without the career that gave her fame, fortune and, most importantly, identity.

Principal photography for the drama is scheduled to commence in June in Boston. AR Content, Paul J. Diaz, and Hammerstone Studios, which recently released the action movie “Nobody” starring Bill Skarsgård, are financing the film. WME Independent will represent U.S. sale rights, while Capstone Pictures will handle international rights.

Adams, a six-time Academy Award nominee, has recently starred in films such as “Hillbilly Elegy” and “The Woman in the Window.” She will next be seen in Searchlight Pictures’ dark comedy “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” which she also produced via her banner Bond Group Entertainment. Adams recently wrapped production on Taika Waititi’s upcoming film “Next Goal Wins.”

Mundruczó and Weber’s previous collaboration, “White God,” won the Un Certain Regard Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014, while “Pieces of a Woman” earned Vanessa Kirby an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Mundruczó and Wéber are represented by United Agents and NOVO, respectively.
