Andhra Pradesh CM Narrowly Avoids Train While Inspecting Flood-Damaged Bridge

Amidst heavy rainfall and devastating floods in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu found himself in a close call while inspecting a flood-damaged railway bridge. A viral video captured the moment Naidu, accompanied by officials and NSG commandos, stood precariously close to a speeding train on a narrow platform beside the bridge. The 74-year-old CM remained unperturbed as the train whizzed past, showcasing his dedication to overseeing relief efforts in the affected areas.

The incident sparked concern amongst social media users, with many commenting on the risk Naidu took. One user remarked, “Maut ke sath khel rhe” (playing with death), while others humorously commented, “If a man can survive a bomb blast, he can do anything.” Passengers aboard the train, however, cheered on the CM’s commitment to his duties.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department issued a warning of heavy rainfall in the coming days, with isolated very heavy rainfall expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam on August 8th and 9th, and Telangana on September 9th and 10th. The department also predicted heavy rainfall in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka until September 10th and in Telangana for the next three days.

In response to the ongoing situation, Naidu stated that there was no rain on Friday in the catchment areas, leading to a reduction in inflows to 3,500 cusecs. He further added that sealing the breach at Budameru poses a significant challenge, even for the Army team working tirelessly on the site.

Despite the challenges, Naidu assured the public that the government is committed to delivering relief to all affected areas. He emphasized that while the current situation seems stable, heavy rainfall overnight could lead to a surge in inflows within five to six hours. He further reassured the public that the government is working diligently to ensure relief reaches every affected individual.
