Google’s Android 15 Beta 2, released shortly after the Google I/O 2024 keynote, brings many new features, including Adaptive Vibration, which is currently exclusive to Pixel phones. Adaptive Vibration dynamically adjusts the vibration strength of incoming notifications based on the environment, using the phone’s microphone and other sensors to determine sound levels and context. This ensures you don’t miss calls or notifications when your phone is placed on soft surfaces like cushions or bedding, where vibrations can be dampened. While Adaptive Vibration is a useful feature, its availability may be limited to the Pixel family of devices, particularly newer models. Extending this feature to all Android devices running Android 15 and above would enhance its usefulness. Additionally, Adaptive Vibration does not silence the phone or reduce ringer volume when you pick it up, which could be a desirable feature for some users.
