Angel Gomes Recovers After Scary Collision in Ligue 1 Match

Lille midfielder Angel Gomes has made a full recovery and been released from the hospital after a scary incident during their Ligue 1 match against Stade Reims on Saturday. The 23-year-old Englishman was knocked unconscious after a collision with Reims midfielder Amadou Kone in the 11th minute of the game.

The match was halted for over 30 minutes as medical staff attended to Gomes on the pitch. He was eventually stretchered off the field as fans from both teams chanted his name in support. Kone was shown a red card for the dangerous challenge. Despite the incident, Lille went on to win the match 2-0.

In an Instagram video posted on Sunday, Gomes reassured fans that he was recovering well. “I’m okay, I’m back home. I’ve been looked after and I’m feeling good,” he said. Gomes thanked the medical staff at both the club and hospital for their care and expressed his gratitude to fans for their overwhelming support.

“This crazy collision, these things happen in football. But the most important (thing) is that I’m okay. We won three points,” Gomes said. He also added a humorous note, saying, “P.S. Remind me not to jump for no more headers.”

Gomes’ quick recovery is a relief to Lille fans and the football community as a whole. The incident served as a reminder of the inherent risks associated with the sport, especially when it comes to head injuries.
