Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who have been locked in a legal battle since their 2016 separation, are making headlines again. Jolie has dropped her lawsuit seeking the release of FBI documents related to an alleged domestic violence incident on a private flight in 2016, which was a key factor in their divorce. According to People, a source close to Jolie said that she is “actively trying to move forward and not looking to dwell on the past. She wants to focus on what makes her happy, her family, her work, and her future.”
While Jolie and Pitt were legally declared single in 2019, their divorce proceedings are far from over. In 2022, Jolie, using the pseudonym Jane Doe, filed a Freedom of Information Act request seeking the release of FBI documents related to the September 14, 2016, flight. The flight involved Jolie, Pitt, and their six children: Maddox (now 23), Pax (20), Zahara (19), Shiloh (18), and twins Vivienne and Knox (16). The FBI and Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services investigated allegations that Pitt was abusive towards one of their children. Sources at the time stated that Pitt was “verbally abusive” and “physically aggressive” towards one of the children. Pitt denied these allegations. The FBI eventually closed their investigation without filing charges and the Department of Children and Family Services found no evidence of abuse.
Furthermore, Jolie and Pitt are still embroiled in a legal battle over their French winery, Château Miraval. In July, Jolie’s lawyers reportedly asked Pitt to drop his lawsuit concerning the winery in an attempt to settle their differences.
Amidst all this, Jolie recently returned to the screen after a three-year hiatus, starring in Pablo Larraín’s film *Maria*, which tells the story of opera legend Maria Callas. The film has garnered Oscar buzz. On September 29th, Jolie attended the film’s premiere at the New York Film Festival with her children Maddox, Pax, and Zahara, receiving a standing ovation from the audience.
