Anne Heche’s Estate Faces Financial Woes, Delaying Closure

Following the tragic passing of actress Anne Heche in August 2022, her estate has encountered financial difficulties. Her son, Homer Laffoon, who serves as the estate’s administrator, has revealed that the estate currently lacks the funds to settle outstanding debts, delaying its closure.

The estate’s financial struggles are evident in the seven creditor claims it has amassed. Three of these claims exceed $2 million, with one filed by the couple whose home Heche crashed into during the fatal accident. Additionally, Heche’s former partner, Thomas Jane, has filed a claim for over $149,000.

Despite attempts to negotiate settlements, the estate remains burdened with approximately $6 million in debt. Laffoon has expressed cautious optimism about resolving the creditor claims without resorting to litigation. He acknowledges the challenge posed by the financial burden, but remains committed to finding a fair solution.

Sales of Heche’s posthumous memoir, ‘Call Me Anne,’ have fallen short of expectations, generating less than $25,000 in profit. This has further contributed to the estate’s difficulties in meeting its financial obligations.

Meanwhile, the home where Heche’s fatal accident occurred has been restored and relisted for sale. Located in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles, the property boasts three bedrooms and three bathrooms and is currently on the market for $1.35 million.
